Policies & Procedures The Policies and Procedures of Alamo City Arts Academy are designed to maintain the decorum needed to excel in the art of dance while ensuring the highest standard of safety for students and their peers. Attendance & Tardiness Good attendance is essential to your student’s growth and success. If more than 20% of classes are missed, your student may not be eligible for promotion to the next level the following year. Please make every effort to attend every class. Missed classes are not deducted from tuition. Tardiness is disruptive to the learning process. It inhibits a dancer’s ability to focus, and important instruction may be missed. Repeated tardiness is disrespectful to fellow students and the instructor. If you will be tardy, please text (210) 369-8311 so we can inform the instructor. Upon arrival, wait at the door until the instructor invites you in. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will not receive attendance credit and must schedule a make-up class. Make-Up Classes if a student misses a class, they are encouraged to attend a make-up class within the same month.
Students may attend one level below their own (e.g., Beginning Ballet may make up in Dance Foundations).
Alternatively, students may make up by attending the same level in a different discipline (e.g., Elementary Jazz → Elementary Ballet).
Make-up classes are encouraged; however, Alamo City Arts Academy reserves the right to limit make-up classes after three absences have accrued. When an absence occurs, you will receive an email indicating the student’s eligibility to take a make-up class. When making up a class, please fill out a make-up slip at the front desk. Inclement Weather Alamo City Arts Academy will post updates on alamocityarts.org regarding weather-related closures. The Academy reserves the right to close at its discretion—we will not put any student or family in danger due to weather. Any classes canceled or missed may be made up according to the Make-Up Classes policy above. Parent Observation All classes--except “Parent & Me”—are independent-level, meaning parents are not allowed in the classroom. For the safety and security of all students, please remain in the lobby or your vehicle and do not enter the classroom without permission. This helps students focus without distractions. If a child struggles with separation, we will work with the parent/guardian to support the child without disrupting class. Parent Observation Weeks are scheduled for the first full weeks of November and April each year so families may observe their dancer’s progress. Lobby Area The lobby is shared by all families and patrons. Please be courteous and mindful of conversation topics. All dance bags and personal items must be left in the lobby during class. Only water bottles and dance shoes are allowed in the studio. Lobby guidelines
