Nurlan Kinerbayev

Picture
Nurlan Kinerbayev is an internationally acclaimed principal dancer whose career includes performances with major ballet companies across Europe, Russia, and the United States. Born in Kazakhstan, Nurlan graduated from the esteemed Almaty Choreographic College named after A. V. Seleznev and later earned his bachelor’s degree from the University Bolashak. He continued his professional development with a six month internship at Oregon Ballet School, strengthening the classical foundation that defines his artistry.
Nurlan has performed as a principal dancer with leading companies including the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre of Almaty, the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Moscow City Ballet, the Russian National Ballet, and Manassas Ballet Theatre in Virginia. His repertoire features many of ballet’s most iconic roles, including Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, the Prince in Cinderella, Basilio in Don Quixote, the Prince in The Nutcracker, Don José in Carmen Suite, Albert in Giselle, and numerous additional classical and character roles. A laureate of international ballet competitions, Nurlan is known for his versatility, dramatic depth, and powerful physicality.
Beyond his performance career, Nurlan is a respected teacher, choreographer, and mentor. He has taught at established ballet programs throughout San Antonio, served as a jury member for Ballet Championship of America, and frequently leads master classes across the United States. His teaching combines strong classical technique with an emphasis on musicality, character development, and disciplined storytelling, guiding students toward both technical mastery and artistic growth.

Nurlan is honored to join Alamo City Arts as a Master Instructor and Associate Artistic Director. He looks forward to sharing his extensive experience, passion, and professional insight with the dancers of Alamo City Arts Academy and the broader San Antonio community.
